Daniel McLaughlin Therrell Comprehesive High School, a Georgia School of Excellence, named in honor of an Atlanta educator and Board of Education member, is located in the southwest corner of the city of Atlanta, approximately one mile north of Greenbriar Shopping Mall. The one unit structure is situated on 17.3 acres of land, a part of which is utilized for althetics (baseball, football, track, and tennis). The facility is divided into three major areas. The Vocational Education Department and Junior Reserve Officer's Training Corps (JROTC) are located in one wing of the building. The area in which the Law and Government Magnet Center is located contains instructional areas, a modern and authentic courtroom, a professional law library and a computer automated research center. The remaining part of the building is composed of classrooms, an auditorium, two gymnasiums, a dance studio, a media center, three cafeterias, an amphitheater, four computer laboratories, and offices for administrators and support personnel.
